2024-25 School Counselor Consultation Groups

Consultation groups are designed to support counselors in their roles by providing peer support, clinical consultation, and continuing education to help counselors refine their skills providing school-based mental health intervention.

Groups are composed of six international school counselors from around the world, headed by an experienced and licensed Truman Group clinician. Groups will meet remotely for 90 minutes twice per month for the duration of the school year.

What you can expect from groups:

Peer to Peer Support

Consultation Groups are an opportunity for counselors to provide and receive support from colleagues who share similar roles and responsibilities in international schools.  The groups provide a sense of community, sharing and trust, and are an important source of community and social support for counselors.

Clinical Consultation & Referral

The groups use a case consultation format, where counselors present cases to colleagues to solicit clinical guidance, problem solving and support.

Didactic Psychoeducation & School-Based Intervention

Participants are encouraged and supported as they develop and refine case conceptualization and clinical skills.  This work occurs both in the context of peer-to-peer consultation, as well as through instruction from Consultation Group leaders.

Two Professional Development Seminars

Participants will have the opportunity to attend two remote weekend online professional development seminars during the 2024-2025 school year.  The training will be directed at developing practical clinical skills that may be used in school settings.  The training sessions are not mandatory but are strongly encouraged.
